Dear Chuck Lorre:
I remember back before there was color TV and in all that time I have never gone out of my way to watch anything on or made for TV until The Big Bang Theory.  A friend gave me copies of the first 3 seasons and now I am hooked.  In one early episode Sheldon was actually talking about the universe and started a line of reasoning that would have led to considering that the universe might be running backward in time.  This was an old hobby or mine, and I offer a link to a recent letter I wrote Kip Thorne.

If you want more, I can go on for some length.  Who knows?  Maybe there is a one liner in there somewhere.

Then just the other day another friend had been walking through a room where Two and a Half Men was going on.  She overheard a child ask whether his parents were kin.  Told no, he went on, “Well if you were you would have lots of children, and they would have lots of children and you would have lot and lots of descendents.”

Of course that is true, on average.  And somebody had to know; it’s just to spot on to be a blind gag.  This is more than a hobby for me; it has become my whole life.  Here is a link

I shall also enclose a paper I co authored that was published this year talking about the same issue with an eye to helping the fight against malaria.  Again maybe there is a one liner or even an episode; if so it’s all yours.

Since it appears that you or somebody in your staff is quite aware of the truth of the character’s remark, I wonder if you have evidence that I do not.  In other words, “How in the world did you know?”  Please let me hear from you.

Sincerely,

M. Linton Herbert MD
